MIAN
The inspiration of this work comes from the Mogao Grottoes in China. I visited the Mogao Grottoes in 2020. When I saw the murals and statues in the caves, I felt the shock of my soul, as if I had passed through thousands of years of dialogue with the previous artists.

01
Inspiration
This is the source of my inspiration, when I see her, it seems that she is also looking at me, she seems to smile but not, even though time has damaged her body, but still can see the real her.
02
First Draft
In these two sketches, what I want to show on the left is that "she" faces some temptation/disturbance but remains indifferent. The one on the right focuses on "her" herself. Finally, I think the one on the right can better convey the emotion of the statue, so I choose the one on the right for creation.

03
Color
This was my original color, but the whole thing was a little too flat and didn't highlight the main character. Most of the colors I choose in this part come from the colors in the mural. The collision of green and yellow makes the contrast of the whole picture more interesting.
04
Mian
This is the final appearance of the whole work. I named this work "Mian", which is a Chinese pinyin, meaning sleep in Chinese. In my opinion, art is a special way of human communication. When I saw that statue, I felt as if someone who had been asleep for thousands of years had broken through the heavy plaster and talked to me.
